PRESSURE

Pressure Post PicFrom the smooth sounds of R&B, to the heart of Soul and the exuberance of Pop, Pressure has created a unique and exciting new sound that transcends age, ethnic and cultural barriers, and is truly international in its vision. The six-man group is by no means another manufactured “boy band”; they are a true group of brothers, having been friends for years, and have come together to share the combination of their gift and vision with each other and the world.

Zach Spencer, being the eldest member of Pressure by a couple of months, was a real leader in the music program at HH High School where he not only sang in several choirs including the most select groups, but also played lead roles in school musicals and plays, including Harold Hill in “The Music Man”. Along with the honors of being accepted into the prestigious High School All-Eastern Chorus, Zach also wrote and arranged several pieces for his schools’ singing groups. Writing and performing music became his focus as he was accepted to Penn State University in the fall of ’96 to study Music Composition. A love for music was fostered for him at a very early age by his mother an avid music lover, singer and one of Pressure’s first fans.

Mark Charran was actually born in Jackson Heights, New York before he moved to Horsham, PA at the age of four. Mark was first introduced to music in his freshman year at HH as he was enticed by some friends to join the school choir. He quickly became an important part of the program as he studied music theory, composition, voice, and conducting as part of his high school electives. He also played several lead roles in the schools musicals and plays and was also accepted to the very select High School All-Eastern Chorus in 1997. He was accepted to Penn State University to study Music Composition in the fall of ’97 where he would meet back up with Zach.

Jon Heller, the final member of the Hatboro-Horsham contingent of Pressure also made a name for himself along with Mark and Zach in the HH music program. His incredible tenor voice and exceptional range is one that most high school choir directors would pay for. He was a valuable member of all the select choirs and also involved himself with the school’s musicals as well. Knowing that he was going to pursue a career in music, but not wanting to follow the footsteps of his buddies Mark and Zach just yet, Jon accepted an offer to attend Temple University’s
nationally recognized Music School to study voice. He wouldn’t be gone for long.

Jon-Chris Hatalski has grown up with music all his life. His dad is a phenomenal drummer and singer who has performed in and maintained some type of band for most of his life. With his awesome bass voice, Jon-Chris followed right in his dad’s footsteps taking part in his high school’s top vocal ensembles including a jazz choir. Not really sure whether he wanted to pursue a career in music, J.C. also accepted an offer to attend Penn State in the fall of ’97 with an Undecided major. The fact that he has a lot of family and friends that live near State College, PA where Penn State is located played largely in his decision.

Korey Jackson lived most of his life in New Jersey before he moved to Elkridge, MD where he attended Howard High School. While there he was a very involved member of both the instrumental and vocal programs. He served as Drum Major of the marching band for three years and student led the Madrigal Singers. He won national awards for both of these positions as well as singing in the 1995 Maryland All-State Choir and performing lead roles in various school musicals and plays. After encouragement from his choral teacher to pursue a degree in Music Education with an emphasis on singing he auditioned and was accepted at, -guess where? Penn State University in the Fall of ’97.

Marcus Paul James was born in Brooklyn, New York to another extremely musical family. He is a descendant of the late great Fats Waller and his aunt is a back-up singer for Mariah Carey. He started singing and playing music from a very young age in the Baptist church and never stopped. After 7th grade, Marcus’ mother decided to send him to a very well known private school called Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA. There he continued to excel in both instrumental and vocal music as well as acting and dance. He won several national awards for singing and dance before accepting an offer to attend Penn State University on a scholarship to study Musical Theatre in the fall of ’99.
